Besides being the first Indian designer or architect to be invited to deliver a talk at the prestigious National Building Museum in Washington DC she is also the first woman to be appointed Chairperson of a National Institute Of Excellence, The School Of Planning and Architecture in Bhopal.

Malik Architecture is an award-winning Mumbai-based multidisciplinary design firm with over 38 years of experience. It has, from its inception, attempted to develop a contemporary design syntax for the sub-continent, by approaching architecture as a synthesis of ecology and spirit. Their work draws inspiration from nature, not through its physical forms, but through its principles and processes.

A conservationist and champion of heritage and sustainable architecture, the Malaysian architect is an Aga Khan Awardee, whose built projects cover everything from residential bungalows to high and low-rise commercial towers, sporting and medical facilities, hotels and resorts around the world. The Salinger Residence in Selangor, Malaysia, for which he was bestowed with the Aga Khan Award in 1998, is testament to his design principles – a post and beam timber project on stilts, a modern interpretation of the traditional Malay culture, completely hand-built and keeping ecological preservation in mind. His ancestral home in Penang is a UNESCO World Heritage Site too.

Chitra Vishwanath, Managing Director of Biome Environmental Her multi-disciplinary firm focuses on ecological architecture and intelligent waste designs. With an extensive portfolio of works that centers on the preservation of local resources, she has been the recipient of NDTV Design and Architecture Awards, twice in a row, for her projects Yellow Train and The Atelier. Chitra is also a lecturer at the Goa College of Architecture, Panaji as part of the prestigious Charles Correa Design Chair program.
